As practice has shown, performance-tuning hybrid cars is not nearly as challenging as full-on EVs – you just need to focus on the combustion engine and make sure the on-board electronics handles the extra thrust correctly. This is how this BMW 330e got its extra 130 horsepower and 300 Newton-meters of torque.
The tuner claims that the upgrade was carried out by software means. With 420 PS (4414 hp / 309 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal, the 3-Series now sprints from standstill into action in less than five seconds – a whole second faster than stock.
As for the top speed, the manufacturer puts it at 233 km/h (145 mph). As you can see from this video posted by AutoTopNL, though, the tweaked hybrid has no trouble hitting 255 km/h (158.4 mph).
