Diesel-chugging BMW 3-Series matches M3 on the track with a new turbo kit

German aftermarket specialist TurboZentrum has released a particularly powerful turbo system for the BMW 335d that enables it to match or surpass the gas-powered M3 in dynamic performance. The asking price is as low as €2,022, but the first production batch is already sold out.

The main highlight of the new compressor design is its forged wheel, which manages to improve both power and torque output along the entire RPM range. Included in the tuner’s Stage II kit, it comes bundled with new bearings designed to extend its service life considerably.

Once upgraded, the 335d begins churning out 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW), up from the stock 335 PS (330 hp / 246 kW). The tuner does not provide any actual acceleration times, but we know that the car’s 3.0-liter inline-six diesel easily reaches 700-800 Nm (516-590 lb-ft) of torque with relatively moderate tuning.

In the video (in German language), a representative of TurboZentrum delves into the specifics and challenges of boosting your production car.
