BMW recalls the entire E90 3-Series

The Bavarian automaker is pulling all 378,263 E90 3-Series cars produced into service centers for airbag replacement.

The production of the E90 generation ended in 2013. The reason for the recall campaign is the infamous Takata airbag, which can be both inefficient and deadly in an accident.

Interestingly enough, the company stresses that it didn’t put any Takata airbags into any E90 models at the factory. Only owners who had the steering wheel in their car replaced with an M wheel, or those uncertain about the specific airbag type installed in their car by a previous owner, should be concerned. In other words, you are only at risk if your E90 has an aftermarket steering wheel.
