German car manufacturer BMW has released new photos of its upcoming 7th-gen BMW 3 sedan series. The development mule of the car is currently running laps on the Nürburgring Circuit, where engineers test and iron out its suspension, brakes and steering.
There are a few new bits of information as well. For one, the car will be about 50 kg (110 lb) lighter than its predecessor. For another, its center of gravity will be positioned 1 cm (0.4”) lower than before. The weight will be distributed between the front and the rear axle in the 1:1 ratio.
The 7th-generation BMW 3 Series will get an improved turbocharged engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine will reportedly consume 5% less fuel than its antecedent, while simultaneously managing to be the strongest V4 in the entire lineup.
The sport trim, called M Sport, will get lowered suspension, reconfigured steering, the M Sport differential for better road performance, and a set of 18” wheels.
