All-electric BMW 3.0 CSL takes the fight to Ford Mustang GT, see what ensues

The Ford Mustang is a strong opponent on the drag strip, but the latest video by Carwow demonstrates how new technologies in old car bodies can make all the difference. Opposing the Mustang in this series of races is an all-electric BMW 3.0 CSL.

Starting with the familiar ride first, the ‘Stang utilizes a five-liter, normally aspirated V8 dialed up from its original 455 PS (449 hp / 335 kW) to 496 PS (489 hp / 365 kW). The torque stays locked at its usual 530 Nm (391 lb-ft), though. Upgrades include a new air intake system, a sports exhaust system and an ECU remap.

The BMW is anything but stock, running on a Tesla powertrain tuned down from 456 PS (451 hp / 335 kW) to just 360 PS (354 hp / 265 kW). As such, it is at a clear power disadvantage compared to the Mustang.

A standing drag race is followed by a rolling race and ultimately by a brake test. Be sure to watch this interesting showdown!
