A whole number of BMW cars will be updated this spring, receiving new powertrains and tech, as well as new features.
The 220i xDrive Gran Coupe will become available with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 178 PS (176 hp / 131 kW) and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque. The FWD version will pull ahead slightly with 238 km/h (148 mph) max. Prices in Germany will begin at €40,750. Other than the powertrain upgrades, the 2 Series will get new wheel options, including 18-inch M-style wheels finished in two colors.
The 4 Series Coupe will land with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel assisted by a 48V starter-generator and an eight-speed A/T. Thr M440d xDrive will churn out 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), and will set you back €67,800 or more. The former will hit 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and the latter in 4.6 seconds. Minimum fuel consumption per 100 km traveled will hover around 5.2 liters for the former and 5.7l for the latter. BMW Individual will supply some new body finishes, specifically Brilliant White Metallic, Frozen Deep Grey Matte and Frozen Portimao Blue Matte.
For their part, the X5 and X6 will get optional Laser LED headlights and the Individual Shadow Line package, which blacks out headlight housings. The BMW Operating System 7 will support a new feature called BMW News, which can select news according to the driver’s preference and play them back in audio form.
The M8 (see video) will get lightweight M5 CS bucket seats featuring composite frames, leather and Alcantara upholstery, heating and power adjustments. The option will cost €3,950.
Air particle filters installed in the X5, X6, X7, 7 Series and 8 Series models equipped with the four-zone climate control system will be upgraded to intercept harmful nanoparticles. Four-wheel steering will become standard for the 7 Series, while the M3 and M4 will ship in Skyscraper Grey with Merino leather inside available in five new colors. Finally, the M340i, M340d, M440i and M440d will ship with a carbon fiber top option.
