The 1955 model year vehicle is expected to fetch its current owner between €100,000 and €150,000, so let’s see what makes it so valuable.
If you think the exterior of the car resembles that of the Beaufighter jet, that’s because it was designed by the automotive division of Bristol Aeroplane Company. The body went through a series of wind tunnel tests, and the dashboard still resembles the one found inside a jet cockpit.
Most of the tech stems from a BMW 328, but the 2.0-liter engine enjoys a boost to 125 PS (123 hp / 92 kW). A total of 43 Bristol 405 models rolled off the lines (watch the video for another example), but only three had left-hand drive.
The car was restored sometime in the past, but now needs another major overhaul. Originally painted grey with a brown cabin, it is now dark green with red leather upholstery. Bristol Cars seldom pop up on sale because of their high collectors’ value.
The Bristol brand ceased to exist in May 2020, but businessman Jason Warton bought it out and is now planning to resurrect it.
