U.S. $15,500 can buy you a more powerful car than this BMW 2002 currently offered on Bring a Trailer, but you will be hard pressed to find one more elegant and style-conscious.
According to the ad description, the classic coupe left the assembly line in 1974 and made it to its current owner in 2001. Around that time, it received an engine transplant from a similar model: a 2.0-liter M10 inline-four with mechanical injection. The maintenance team had its distribution shaft replaced with a dual-valve-spring Korman K300 model, installed a Stahl exhaust manifold, and reassembled the intake system using aftermarket components.
On the outside, the restomod features a special hood cover and trunk lid, a somewhat controversial splitter at the front end, and a GFRP rear spoiler. Interior highlights include a sports steering wheel and Recaro seats. Brakes and suspension enjoy their own fair share of upgrades, and 13-inch Mahle wheels finished in silver fill out the arches nicely.
The car has slightly under 70,000 km (43,000 miles) on the odo and is set to go for U.S. $15,500 within a day, so hurry up if you think you may be interested.
