The first photo showing the alleged second generation of the BMW 4 Series is quickly gaining popularity online. The quality is not the best, but there is no mistaking the huge nostril grille reminiscent of certain classical sports car designs of the 20th century.
Regrettably, the angle the photo was shot from prevents seeing the body of the car. We would suppose it to be similar to that of the Concept 4 introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show a month ago (see video). Back then, BMW Chief Designer Domagoj Dukec emphasized that the new 4 Series would ship with the same grille design.
The car goes into the next generation with new lighting similar to that of the 8 Series Coupe, an original front fascia design, and more colors to choose from.
As for the example depicted here, it is most likely an M440i xDrive – note the flaring laser high beams and the aggressively-shaped front air intakes that are part of the BMW M Package.
The official premiere remains slated for next year.
