We have already seen a few pre-production BMW 4 Series Coupe samples running around (watch the video if you didn’t), but this one actually made it to the High North.
The car is wrapped in an impervious disguise wrap that conceals most of its features, but the gigantic ‘nose grille’ seems to be in place. The 4 Series Concept debuted at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the final reveal will likely occur during the 2020 Geneva IMS in Switzerland next spring.
Just like its technical twin – the 3 Series – the car utilizes the modern modular architecture known as CLAR, which reportedly suits all kinds of drivetrains (IC, hybrid, and electric). ICE-powered 4 Series will be the first to enter the market, packing a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder mill in its most affordable version and a 3.0-liter I6 with 374 hp (279 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque in the range-topping M440i spec.
Interestingly enough, BMW postponed the launch of the performance versions (M3 and M4) to 2021 without explaining the reasons. Both will receive the same powertrains as the already available X3 M and X4 M SUVs, specifically 480 hp (358 kW) in standard spec and 510 hp (380 kW) in the Competition spec.
The M4 Coupe will also be BMW’s last model still available with a manual gearbox.
