BMW has published its financial results for the fiscal year 2019, as well as the engine R&D roadmap. By next year, the Bavarian automaker intends to cut its internal combustion engine pool in half in favor of new electrified and all-electric powertrains.
The motorbikes and Rolls-Royce vehicles will likely retain all of their existing BMW engines, while the more traditional cars with BMW and Mini badges on them will be affected.
It is worth noting that Mini already has an EV called the Cooper SE, and BMW is launching three EVs in 2021, including the i4 Four-Door Coupe, the iX3 SUV, and the iNext SUV.
