Having premiered its 4 Series Coupe and Convertible, BMW decided to wait until 2021 to unveil the Gran Coupe version – but here it is, thanks to car spotters.
Based on the spy pics, the cars being tested are a 430i and an M440i – the latter being instantly recognizable by its trapezoid-shaped exhaust tips and aggressively styled wheels.
Both prototypes wear plenty of camo, but it seems evident that both draw inspiration from the coupe variant with its iconic grille design and squinting headlights. The taillights and the rear bumper also look identical.
Knowing BMW, one could expect the interior to be the same as in the coupe version, including a digital gauge cluster merged with a multimedia display.
The same should apply to the powertrains: unless something unexpected occurs, the car will ship with a 259-PS (255-hp / 190-kW) base engine rated at 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. A second option would come in the form of a 387-PS (382-hp / 285-kW) mill good for 494 Nm (364 lb-ft) of torque.
