Diesel BMW 4-Series gets boosted to the Moon and beyond

A British tuner has recently come up with a BMW 430d that might just be the craziest 4-Series out there in terms of raw performance.

Is is only logical that gas-powered BMWs get tuned more often than diesel ones do, but a closer inspection of the N57N engine reveals it can do wonders with a bit of extra forced induction.

In its stock form, the mill churns out 259 PS (255 hp / 190 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to Darkside Developments, this particular example received a tune to 387 PS (382 hp / 285 kW) and 745 Nm (549 lb-ft). Not every full-size pickup has that kind of power at its disposal, yet the owner decided he wanted more, so he asked the company for another round.

The mods included a custom turbocharger, a fuel pump and injectors optimized for high pressure, purpose-designed camshafts and assorted transmission reinforcements, the 430d was finally able to slam the flywheel with 460 PS (454 hp / 338 kW) and 1,016 Nm (750 lb-ft) of torque, surpassing its original numbers by a factor of two. In the video, the car has no trouble spinning wheels in the third gear.
