BMW XM rears its defiant snout on the first teaser pic

BMW has posted an image of a ‘high-performance electrified’ car named the XM, which will debut in metal on November 29, 2021.

Based on the pic, it is a large SUV with either Laser LED or normal LED headlights, as well as some roof-mounted auxiliary lighting. Along with other recent BMWs, the XM flaunts an offensively large nostril-shaped front grille, but unlike the new X6 with its backlit grille, this model will apparently make do with contour illumination.

The accompanying text description claims that the concept car will be the marque’s most expressive statement throughout the nearly 50-year-long history of the BMW M, as well as a unique X model on the M lineup. It will hit production as a standalone model with no close relatives. It seems that when BMW M CEO Markus Flasch hinted at a unique M vehicle coming a few months ago, he meant the XM.

It would seem that the Bavarian automaker is unrepentant about its highly controversial grille design, because it says the whole front fascia of the XM will set a benchmark for all deluxe BMW vehicles for years to come.

No technical details have been revealed yet, but Carscoops believes the SUV may get a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and a single electric motor jointly rated at 761 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) or so.
