American car owners submitted a collective suit against the Bavarian car maker because of problems with drainage system. As a result of a blockage of drainage tubes of a panoramic roof, water got to the luggage compartment of BMW 5-Series sedans (E60) of 2004 — 2010 and disabled electronic components. As a result, there was a need of costly repairs.
Motorists had to submit a collective suit after BMW began to deny, that it was aware of problems with drainage system in 2004, what the party of the claimants insisted on and submitted the first applications to courts 4 years ago. Compensation in the amount up to 1500 dollars will be received by about 318 thousand car owners, generally the amount of compensation payments of BMW will constitute about 470 million dollars, taking into account 1,8 million dollars of legal costs.
