BMW said it was currently working on a 2-Series liftback which would compete with the Audi RS3 and Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 in their market segment. The newcomer goes by the name of BMW M2 Gran Coupe and should be out next year.
The high-end BMW M2 Gran Coupe will take advantage of a 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline 6 with 370 hp and 465 Nm torque. Cheaper modifications of the BMW M2 Gran Coupe will come with quite a few 1.5L and 2.0L engines to choose from. A hybrid car is also likely.
Finally, the upcoming BMW M2 Gran Coupe will utilize the front-driven UKL chassis found on modern MINI cars.
Prices will be revealed later.
