The alleged leaked photos of the new BMW 5 Series depict a lightly redesigned and probably hybrid version of the sedan.
Based on the shots, the headlights, the bumpers and the radiator grille are the only changed elements. The latter is particularly interesting, since it lacks the overblown appearance BMW has been advocating for a while now. After yesterday’s leak of similar X3 pics, it looks like the company finally gave up trying to reconcile the masses with its experimental grille design.
Note the socket in the front fender that hints at the car’s hybrid powertrain. The specific model shown here is the 530e, which currently comes powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a single electric motor. The power total amounts to 252 hp (188 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft).
No technical specs are available for the 2021 facelift, though. The premiere should take place sometime in May, and the sales should begin before the end of the year.
