Ute-shaped BMW 5 Series (E39) goes up on sale again, discounted

The Munich-based automaker had never taken the idea of mass-producing pickup trucks seriously, so tuners took it upon themselves from time to time. One of such conversions is now up for grabs in Kursk, Russia for U.S. $30,000.

The eBay ad says it took the tuner four years to convert a BMW 530d (E39) wagon into a ute. Aside from the truck bed, the car received new suspension, exhaust and noise proofing.

Powering the build is the stock 2.9-liter I6 diesel linked to a 5-G auto transmission. The wheels receive 184 hp (137 kW) of power along with 390 Nm (288 lb-ft) of maximum torque. The mileage is specified as 5,000 km (3,100 miles), but there is no mention whether it reflects total usage or only after the conversion.

It is worth noting that the same car popped up on sale a year ago priced at $32,000, but it looks like no one purchased it back then.
