BMW has unveiled its 5-Series lineup for China, including the long-wheelbase version traditional for that market. Like the 7-Series flagship spec, the car treats the rear seat occupants to a giant multimedia display near the ceiling.
The 31.3-inch, 8K display is mounted behind the front seat headrests and supports 5G. A Bowers&Wilkins premium audio system provides the sound.
Unlike the European version (see video), the 5-Series for China boasts an unusual two-tone color scheme, special stitching on the seats and the model name embossed onto the seat backs. The climate control system is four-zone by default, and a panoramic sunroof is included in the base trim. The rest of the interior is styled in line with the country’s traditions and trends.
Customers will be able to choose between classic petrol cars and all-electric i5 models. Note especially the backlit number ‘5’ in the Hoffmeister kink. It glows white in ICE cars and blue in EVs, and starts flashing when you plug in a charging device.
