BMW 5-Series gains +50% torque from a simple ECU tune

German tune-up company Life Motorsport has released a rather remarkable Stage I upgrade for the BMW 530e iPerformance (G30/G31) that raises the power output by roughly one-third and the torque by a full half.

In case you needed a reminder, the sedan normally churns out 252 PS (249 hp / 185 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. Once tuned via software means, it goes up to 358 PS (353 hp / 263 kW) and 633 Nm (467 lb-ft).

The tuner claims that the extra performance is easily felt even in urban driving conditions. You may check out the video yourself to see the numbers on the dashboard.

As a side note, the BMW 530e with the B48B20 four-cylinder engine under the hood is very rarely approached by tuners. It is prone to breakdowns and increased wear when pushed to its limits. If Life Motorsport somehow managed to address the reliability issue, then what we have here is an impressive accomplishment.
