BMW has shared another teaser of the upcoming new 5-Series wagon. The description points out that it is an i5 M model, that is, the all-electric flagship version that the 5-Series never had before. Rumors insist that a full reveal will take place soon.
In the meantime, we know that the latest 5-Series only has one electrified M model so far: the M60 xDrive. It packs a powertrain capable of 601 PS (593 hp / 442 kW) and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque, sprints to highway speed in 3.8 seconds and maxes out at 230 km/h (143 mph). It’s only reasonable to expect the i5 M Touring to get the same powertrain.
Aside from that, the short video hints at a full M Performance body kit for the i5 M Touring, including all-new bumpers, side mirrors and wheels.
The company posted the first photo of the five-door 5-Series EV in October last year. It didn’t reveal any specs back then, but specified that the wagon would go on sale in Europe, the UK, Norway, Taiwan, and Japan. There will also be a gas-powered M5 Touring, which may wind up with the same powertrain as the BMW XM.
