The BMW Vision Neue Klasse, a design prototype meant to give us a taste of future BMW EVs running on a new architecture, will officially debut on September 2, 2023.
The corresponding statement was made by Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BMW, during a conference call following the publishing of a financial report for Q2 2023. He emphasized that it would be a close-to-market car instead of just an early study.
The Neue Klasse platform is being envisioned as the basis for at least six new electric BMWs. Last year, the company revealed that one of them would be a sedan sized like a 3-Series and another one would be a beefy SUV.
The production is scheduled to begin at a newly built factory in Hungary in 2025. The company’s sites in Munich, Germany and Shenyang, China (co-owned with Brilliance) will start producing Neue Klasse EVs in 2026.
The BMW i Vision Dee car shown in the rest of our gallery and the video below is also one of the predecessors of the Neue Klasse – at least, in terms of the digital tech on board.
