BMW builds a crazy EV to test its new car supercomputer

The new electric car commands mountain-moving 18,000 Newton-meters (13,276 pound-feet) of torque, so it needs a very special piece of hardware to control it.

Called the Heart of Joy, the ECU is eventually expected to make it into every next-generation electric car produced in Bavaria. BMW says that it will offer plenty of benefits, such as 25% improved regenerative braking.

If you’d like to see the Vision Driving Experience (VDE) with your own eyes, you will find it at the manufacturer’s Auto Shanghai show booth in a couple of months.
