BMW X7 gets a gear switch adorned with Swarovski crystals

An interesting post appeared in the official BMW blog, saying that the company is going to decorate the manual gear switch of the next BMW X7 model with Swarovski imitation diamonds. Similar ‘crystal’ switches will later appear in the BMW X5 and the 8-Series.

The soon-to-be-revealed BMW X7 will be over 5 meters (16 ft.) long and feature a 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine with 462 hp (345 kW) working in tandem with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Buyers will be able to choose among several other options, including some 3.0-liter gasoline and diesel V6s as well as a hybrid engine capable of 326 hp (243 kW). Industry pros speculate that a hi-end modification of the BMW X7 might get released later with a 6.0-liter V12 engine with more than 600 hp (450 kW) and 800 Nm (600 lb·ft) of torque under its command.

Available equipment includes the next-generation iDrive infotainment system, an electronic dashboard, a night vision system, massage front seats, five-zone climate control, air suspension, active M differential and an off-road kit.

The next BMW X7 lineup will be assembled in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA, and should enter the market before the end of the year.
