Czech police gets 10 BMW 7 Series free of charge

BMW has gifted 10 top-specced 745Le xDrive sedans to the police forces of Czech Republic on the condition that these will serve as advertisement vehicles.

The police pledges to return the cars to BMW after 6 months or 25,000 kilometers (15,534 miles) of use, whichever comes first, or otherwise buy them out. The vehicles wear the appropriate police car colors and come equipped with everything necessary for patrolling and chasing down criminals.

Powering the limited series is a hybrid powertrain rated at 394 hp (294 kW), which takes it from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds. Minimum fuel consumption amounts to just 2.3 liters per 100 kilometers traveled (UK: 123 MPG; USA: 102 MPG).

BMW hopes to sign up contracts with other government authorities if this project proves to be a success.
