BMW has repeatedly become the subject of criticism lately with its polarizing design decision to upscale the radiator grille on all cars. Today, the company has issued a statement saying people actually like it, on the whole.
Peter Heinrich, who is part of BMW senior management, said the carmaker was receiving ‘highly positive feedback’ on the new grille design. He admitted that it is actually model-dependent: some cars can afford looking unusual, because this ultimately becomes their major selling point. The 7 Series, in particular, benefits from the new grille design much, while the more classical 5 Series retains its old styling for now.
The bottom line here is that BMW front grilles will continue to gain in size whether you like it or not. The future M3 / M4 series has already been confirmed for production like this (see video).
