BMW 7 Series sprouts flowers in the cabin

The Bavarian automaker dedicates its latest one-off 745Le xDrive art car to the guests of the Ellerman House Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa.

On the outside, the car boasts gloss black accents and 20-inch bi-color M wheels. The cabin sports an opulent cognac-hued leather trim alongside ventilated and massaged seats, a panoramic roof and an air freshener.

Botanical sculptor Nic Bladen is to thank for producing the unique decorations, including the letters ‘EH’ on the pillows, floral patterns on the headrests, and botanically themed precious metal inserts. Although the artist is primarily known for his 3D flowers and leaves, his latest work is focuses on 2D elements instead.

Bladen says he drew inspiration from the vivid and diverse floral life of the Fynbos region near Cape Town. He hopes that the guests of the hotel will first see the floral images inside the car and then be surprised to discover their real-life counterparts growing all around them.

The 745Le stays stock from the technical point of view, which means it still packs a 3.0-liter inline-six engine good for 394 PS (389 hp / 290 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. It offers between 51 and 54 kilometers of all-electric driving range, and with the nearest airport being mere 25 km away from Ellerman House Hotel, the staff will be able to pick up hotel visitors without producing any emissions.
