BMW continues testing the upcoming G70 generation of its 7 Series, this time around taking two slightly different prototypes out on the streets.
Both vehicles still wear their conspiracy wraps, but a closer look reveals some interesting details. For example, one of the cars has a trunk lid spoiler and as many as four exhaust finishers, which implies a high-end engine. Just what kind of engine remains a matter of speculation, though, because the old 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 is not making it into the lineup again due to the strict emission standards.
Rumor has it that the new 7 Series will consist of four models named the 735d, 740i, 745e, and M750e. The i7 battery sedan will allegedly emerge in three guises - i740, i750, and i7 M60. All trim levels beside the most basic one will have xDrive AWD by default.
The 7 Series may also end up with radiator grille backlighting the likes of which we saw on the X6, door opening/closing servos like those on Rolls-Royce cars, and a partial self-driving system limited to highways.
The production should begin in the summer of 2022, and the premiere should be expected late this year or early next year.
