Video: BMW 7-Series caught on the North Loop

BMW plans to stop producing the current-generation 7-Series as soon as the new one arrives next year, and a test vehicle sighted at the Nürburgring this weekend suggests it won’t be a long wait.

As you can see in the video, the body of the car does much balancing and stability control, suggesting that the company tested the Comfort drive mode. Despite the lateral movements of the body, it seems rather stable in sharp turns. While not that fast on the North Loop, it is still fast enough to overtake a few other cars.

Determining the specific engine model is challenging due to the all tire noise going on, but a few relatively calm seconds allow a guess that it is an electrified inline-six. Then again, this is perhaps the most anticipated engine in the new BMW 7-Series, so no big surprise here.

The newcomer takes advantage of its CLAR underpinnings and will be available in a flagship hybrid spec that will phase out the soon-to-be-discontinued V12. An all-electric variant is also down the line.
