During a regular media conference, BMW has previewed its upcoming new flagship, a 7-Series sedan with an all-electric i7 variant.
Based on the images, the new 7-Series comes with humongous backlit nostril grille the brand seems to be in love with right now, as well as squinted headlights that the manufacturer insists on calling “Crystal LEDs”. The battery-powered i7 is set to become the marque’s most powerful 7-Series car in history. A full debut is expected next month.
Frank Weber, the person responsible for the development of the BMW brand, believes the model to be as innovative as it gets. Promised interior features include an infotainment system powered by a next-gen iDrive OS, state-of-the-art lighting, and a sprawling panoramic glass roof.
It is also official that the model comes with a Theater Screen feature for the rear seat occupants. The feature was first previewed at the CES show in January and necessitated a giant 31-inch 8K display with an aspect ratio of 32:9. When switched off, the display automatically recedes into the ceiling, swinging back down whenever the passengers desire “an exclusive private cinema experience.”
All technical specifications remain to be revealed except for the i7 driving range, which is promised to be within 580-610 kilometers (360 – 379 miles) WLTP-rated. This is slightly better than the current i4 and iX models manage.
