BMW X3 / X4 to get new engines

BMW has announced a motor palette expansion for its Europe-sold X3 and X4 crossover models, along with a forthcoming release of the BMW 1 Series Edition Metropolitan hatchback.

The Х3 range – more specifically, the new X3 M40d – will get a new 3.0L turbo V6 engine rated at 326 hp / 243 kW. The car will accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in less than five seconds. Apart from this, the series also gets a hybrid and an all-electric model.

The X4 family will be supplemented by xDrive30d, a crossover vehicle equipped with a brand-new 3.0L diesel engine reportedly producing up to 265 hp (198 kW) and 620 Nm (462 lb·ft) of torque. Coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the power unit will accelerate the vehicle 0-100 in 5.8 seconds. By the way, the same 8-speed automatic transmission will now be available with the 5, 4, 3, and 1 Series, regardless of the trim level.

As mentioned above, the BMW 1 Series hatchback will get an Edition Metropolitan re-release. The car will be available in three- and five-door variants and feature parking assistance, traffic sign recognition, a rear view camera, navigation software and the BMW Comfort Access system for convenient access to various useful functions.

Finally, the manufacturer has promised to expand the exterior and interior color palette for the 5, 6, and 7 Series.
