BMW Individual has come forward with a one-off take on the M850i Coupe. Called the “Night Sky” and designed in partnership with a scientist team from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, the car features an interior trimmed with actual meteorite stones.
The extremely rare material adorns the running boards, the mirror caps, the gear shifter, the iDrive disc, the ignition button and the entire center console.
In addition to the above, the front fenders, mirror caps and seat upholstery sport what the astronomers call the Widmanstätten Pattern. The pattern can be found on the saw-cut facet of a genuine meteorite stone. There are also LED-powered “constellations” adorning the center armrest.
The last notable feature of the unique M850i by BMW Individual comes in the form of innovative, 3D-printed supports that are 30 percent lighter than their mass-produced counterparts.
