BMW 8 Series looks surprisingly underwhelming with these new 24” rims

The BMW 8 Series, both in its coupe and convertible variants, is still a novelty out there. Despite this, tuner shops all around the world toil every day to bring out their own options and accessories for the new flagship series.

Forgiato also got hold of an 8 Series convertible recently. The team outfitted it with posh Orologio-M wheels sporting stylish golden rims. The wheel set is available in 20, 22 and 24 inches, but the photos show the car wearing the latter.

Maybe it is just us, but the new set looks a bit out of place on the opulent convertible. First, BMW designed its 8 Series to look as sporty and dynamic as possible, while the Orologio-M rims give off that distinct “relaxed retro” vibe (note that the whole series primarily targets owners of luxury wristwatches).

Second, 24 inches seem like a few sizes too much for a tourer like this. Rims this large would have probably looked less out of place on a Phantom or a Maybach. Here, 20 inches would have been just about enough. To everyone their own, of course…

In its production version, the M850i xDrive convertible packs a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine rated at 530 hp (395 kW) and 748 Nm (552 pound-feet) of torque. It concludes the standard 0-100 km sprint in 3.6 seconds.
