BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe details, first pic released

BMW has released the first teaser image of its upcoming 8 Series 4-Door Gran Coupe that will celebrate its live premiere next month and go on sale early this autumn.

Compared against its two-door counterpart, the car sports a longer wheelbase, which essentially means more legroom for the rear passengers along with more trunk space. The company did not reveal the exact seat layout, but we expect it to be 2+2, with a three-seat rear sofa available as an option.

In terms of overall design and features, the Gran Coupe is identical to its two-door coupe and convertible siblings. It comes based on the CLAR platform and has adaptive shock absorbers, as well as rear-wheel steering. The framework is rather sophisticated and consists of a mixture of aluminum, carbon fiber, and magnesium alloy components.

We do not know just yet what versions the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe will ship in. Looking back at its two-door variant once again, that one is available with a choice between a gasoline engine rated at 530 horsepower / 395 kilowatts and a diesel unit capable of 320 hp / 239 kW.
