BMW sets premiere date for the M8 Gran Coupe

BMW will introduce the performance-laden M8 Gran Coupe, which comes to replace the M6 Gran Coupe in its market niche, at the Los-Angeles International Auto Show coming up in November 2019.

In all likelihood, just like all other BMW M vehicles, the M8 will be available in two versions: standard (approx. 600 hp / 447 kW) and Competition (625 hp / 466 kW, 750 Nm / 553 lb-ft). Both will be based on the same 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine, just with different boost levels.

The ‘hottest’ M8 will probably be larger and weigh more than its regular counterpart. As such, it might lag slightly behind the current two-door coupe in terms of acceleration. The ‘normal’ M8 does a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) spurt in  3.2 seconds.

Once out, the M8 family will offer a choice among three different body styles: 2-Door Coupe, Convertible, and Gran Coupe. The latter will mainly compete against the Audi RS7 Sportback and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe for customers’ hearts and wallets.
