Manhart rolls out world’s fastest BMW M8 Competition

The German tuner has put enough effort into the BMW M8 Competition to make it run faster than the newest Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The project is called MH 800 and introduces a variety of aesthetic changes to the base car, including Manhart’s iconic black-and-gold livery, 102mm (4”) tailpipes, and 21-inch wheels wrapped in variable-width rubber.

There is also a carbon fiber body kit consisting of a front splitter, a rear diffuser and a spoiler, as well as Manhart logos and carbon fiber elements in the cabin. The company suggests additionally dropping the ride height by 30 mm (1.2”) and swapping the stock carbon-ceramic brakes out for a stronger model.

The most interesting part lies hidden under the hood, though. There, the 4.4-liter V8 TT takes advantage of new turbochargers, an intercooler, an ECU update, and a catless exhaust. The result amounts to stellar 823 hp (614 kW), as well as 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) of torque. To put things into perspective, the unmodded car maxes out at 625 hp (466 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft).

The Manhart MH 800 zaps from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.6 seconds, hits 200 km/h (124 mph) in 8.3 s and doesn’t stop accelerating until 311 km/h (193 mph). This makes it faster at short distances than the latest Porsche 911 Turbo S (992), which hits the abovementioned speeds at 2.7 and 8.9 seconds, respectively (but compensates for it by maxing out at 330 km/h, or 205 mph).
