BMW has partnered up with artist Jeff Koons to produce a special take on the 8-Series Gran Coupe. The 8 X Jeff Koons is coming in a run of 99 units, one of which will go on sale at Christie’s charity auction in New York on April 4. The rest will be sold to anyone interested for $350,995 USD.
The base car is the M850i xDrive Gran Coupe. It sports a yellow front and has many colorful comic-inspired images covering its entire body, specifically those imitating explosions. The hood wears a complex ornament made from overlapping blue and grey lines with a BMW logo in the middle. The trunk lid and rear bumper also have a cartoonish explosion art on them.
The interior tries to follow the body paint scheme with a vivid combination of red and blue, Bordeaux red on the lower dash and mats, and light brown on the door panels. The center console bears the artist’s signature along with the name of the special edition.
