The next performance coupe in the BMW 8-Series debuts at a dedicated presentation event on June 15, 2018, followed by the 24 Hours Le Mans endurance race which BMW enters again after a seven-year period of non-participation.
As the top-performance model of the 8-Series, the upcoming BMW M850i xDrive packs an eight-cylinder engine with 530 hp (395 kW) and 750 nm (553 lb·ft) of torque. It also gets an eight-speed automatic transmission.
For better handling, the vehicle will be equipped sport-grade adaptive suspension with adjustable shock dampers. It also gets active (electromechanical) anti-roll stabilization, automatically locking rear differential and a 4WD chassis with turning rear wheels for an extra bit of maneuverability. A sporty-looking, lightweight exhaust system is merely a cherry on top of what is the BMW M850i xDrive coupe.
Spy photos of the 8-Series coupe test mule were posted online not long ago. The car featured narrow headlights protruding past the sides, an impressive-looking body kit, a chrome-coated radiator grille and large wheels.
