Car company BMW has released photos featuring its upcoming 8 Series convertible running road tests in Las-Vegas and California’s famous Death Valley. The engineers try to find out how the main units and components of the car perform in extreme environments.
The German convertible should enter the market with a 4.4L turbocharged engine rated at 530 hp / 395 kW and working in tandem with a multi-speed automatic transmission. It should accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in four seconds.
Aside from the above, the upcoming BMW 8 Series features AWD, performance brakes and a self-locking differential. It is around 100 kg (220 lb) heavier than its coupe counterpart.
The company hasn’t announced a release date for the new roadster, but some media sources claim it should occur sometime later this year.
