DTE Systems boosts the BMW X2 to 230 hp

The half-SUV, half-coupe BMW X2 has a special place in the lineup of the German car marque. Built upon the latest-gen X1, it has slightly smaller dimensions and features an unusual front-end design that prompts the nickname “der Schöne” (“Handsome”).

It is for the “Handsome” that DTE Systems released a performance upgrade a few days ago. Installation of the PowerControl X chip squeezes additional 38 hp (28 kW) and 55 Nm (41 lb·ft) of torque out of the car’s stock 2.0-liter engine, bringing it on par with the top-spec xDrive25d. The tuning atelier thus promises a total of 231 hp (172 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb·ft).

Among other things, owners of the boosted BMW X2 may take advantage of a PowerControl smartphone app which can be used to monitor the engine performance.
