As some of you remember, it was the compact hatchback named the i3 that heralded the transition of BMW into the electric car era. The model feels the most at home in the urban jungle, but it is still quite capable on the highway – as the latest video proves.
The footage uploaded by a YouTuber named Stighiz shows a BMW i3s making several hot laps on the North Loop. The driver points out that the car is completely stock and had enough charge for three full laps. For a tiny car equipped with a modest 42.2-kWh battery, this is quite the achievement.
Like the sportier i3 version, the i3s utilizes a single electric motor driving the wheels with 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 270 Nm (200 lb-ft) of torque. It benefits from lowered suspension, a drive mode called Sports and wider track in the back accompanied by wider wheels and tires.
