First all-electric BMW M expected in 2021

BMW M CEO Markus Flasch said in an interview that the company was going to launch its first battery-powered performance car in 2021 based on the i4 Concept (shown here).

The original BMW i4 debuted in spring with a slanted roof, a large nostril grille and a body painted Frozen Light Copper with blue accents – like the BMW Vision iNext Concept before it. Interior features included a single curved display combining the digital dash and the infotainment system, a combination of fabric and leather used for the trimming, bronze-hued inlays throughout.

The fifth-gen eDrive system will not be exclusive to the BMW i4, however, It will also be adopted by the all-electric iX3 and iNext. Powered by a 530-hp (395-kW) engine, the car should be able to make 100 km/h (62 mph) in four seconds and max out above 200 km/h (124 mph). Its 80-kWh battery should give it up to 600 kilometers (373 miles) of WLTP-rated range.

It remains speculative how true the mass-produced BMW i4 will stay to its prototype version.
