While unveiling the brand-new BMW i4 earlier this week, the Bavarian automaker made an interesting statement that eluded our attention: the legendary Neue Klasse lineup of mid-size sedans may be coming back later into the 2020s.
Back in the 1960s, BMW used to produce such models as the 1500, 1600, 1800, and 2000. All four were wildly successful and set the stage for marque’s many other cars. The BMW 1500 featured in the attached video was the first to roll off the assembly lines in 1962.
The resurrected New Class will beyond doubt mark another major milestone in the brand’s history – if it actually reaches production, that is. The automaker promises us an all-new chassis and an abundance of modern tech inside.
