Wards Auto puts names on the 10 cars with the world’s best cabins

Wards Auto has published its annual top-10 list of car interior and infotainment systems. For the first time on record, 6 out of 10 winning entries are EVs. Cars made in Japan, Korea, Germany and the USA all made it into the (arguably not very representative) selection.

To save you time, here is the complete list: BMW i7, Cadillac Lyriq, Ford F-150 Lightning, Genesis GV60, GMC Hummer EV, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Wagoneer L, Kia Sportage Hybrid, Nissan Ariya, and Land Rover Range Rover.

As you may have noticed, the BMW i7 (see video) is the only light passenger car in the mix, with the rest of the list divided between SUVs, crossovers and trucks.

The publication does not discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each specific model, talking only about general trends. The authors point out increasingly experimental interior designs, an upmarket move in trim quality and an increase in cabin space and legroom.

Things appear to be going strong in the infotainment department as well, with the study pointing out larger, higher-resolution displays, more sophisticated animations, easier-to-use UIs and general performance impvovements.

The winning cars are determined after a series of test drives. The long list of contenders for this year included only 35 vehicles, out of which Wards Auto deemed 21 worth a closer examination. The rest of the market went ignored.

The winning manufacturers will be getting awards on June 8, 2023.
