The BMW i8 may be out of production as of recently, but it does not mean that the hybrid sports car goes forgotten. In fact, Edo Motorsport just found a way to improve it even further.
The Swiss tuner endows the gasoline engine with additional 81 hp (60 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. This lifts the cumulative output of the car’s hybrid powertrain to 455 hp (339 kW) and 790 Nm (583 lb-ft). While not exactly on supercar level, this kind of performance is still impressive if you consider that the i8 relies on a smallish three-cylinder turbo to propel it forward.
Edo goes further than this, however, and fits the coupe with an especially lightweight body kit. This includes a front splitter, side sills, a rear window spoiler and a diffuser. The show car also gets thin-spoked forged rims clad in Michelin Cup 2 rubber, stiff low suspension and a lightweight starter battery. All in all, the tuner claims it can reduce the weight of the car by as much as 157 kilograms (346 pounds).
Open the door to see Recaro carbon-fiber seats, Alcantara in generous amounts and Edo badges here and there.
