Japanese tuner Liberty Walk has reported completing its second BMW i8 stylistic makeover for an Old World customer. The modifications extend as far as the exterior, wheels and suspension, while the cabin and the powertrain stay untouched.
As one would expect from a JDM company, the arches are grotesquely flared with exposed hardware and the rest of the body sports replacement bodywork in addition to a carbon-fiber aero kit. A Twilight Purple paint scheme looks admittedly gorgeous, though, especially contrasted with orange accents on the grille, sides and wheels.
Speaking of the wheels, they come from Vossen and represent the 20-inch S17-01 Tri-Piece Forged set. Their combined finish in gold and silver looks refreshing on a BMW, while low-profile Continental tires add extra style points. The suspension is air-cushioned and easily adjustable with a remote, but the enclosed video sheds some light on just how challenging it was to have it installed.
The part-electric BMW i8 came out seven years ago and left production last year after only 20,500 units made. Its design was a common target of praise, while weak powertrain and exorbitant price were often mentioned among the biggest faults. Liberty Walk did not disclose the costs associated with the tuning.
