Peek behind the scenes of the BMW Isetta revival project

Automaker Micro Mobility, which controls the classic car brand Microlino at the moment, has released a short-yet-engrossing video about its production site designed for supermini EVs with classic Isetta looks.

The company is still busy assembling pre-production samples of its tiny battery replica, but once the factory reaches full capacity, there will be one Microlino 2.0 rolling off the line every 20 minutes.

The footage clearly shows the modest dimensions of the production complex based in Turin, Italy. According to the company, it is only around 3,000 square meters (32,300 square feet) large. Most of the assembly occurs by hand, and it remains open whether any robotic force will be involved.

The cars shown in the video will act as showroom exhibits after Micro Mobility runs them through the final tests. The production had originally been planned for 2021, and the company reported having 24,000 pre-orders on its hands, but part shortages caused a setback. According to MM representatives, microchips were not the only difficult ingredient to procure: even such relatively common components as electrical wiring harnesses were a challenge to find.

When the Microlino 2.0 reaches the market, it will go on sale in Switzerland, Germany, France and UK first. The car features per-wheel suspension, a 19-kW (25-hp) engine and a trio of batteries granting it between 95 and 230 kilometers (59 – 143 miles) of range.

Prices start from €12,500.
