A source claiming inside knowledge of the company’s affairs in North America has reported that the all-electric BMW iX would be coming at a healthy premium over the gas-powered X5 line.
Specifically, the car will allegedly overshoot $100,000 in its top spec. The similarly sized and trimmed X5 model goes for much less than that. For instance, the range-topping X5 M50i has $82,000 written on its sticker.
Having said that, the iX still looks fairly competitive against other electric crossovers on the market. The Tesla Model X Performance is barely more affordable at $95,000.
BMW will be offering iX buyers three powertrains to choose from, as well as an optional Level 3 self-driving tech package, the first on record for the Bavarian marque. Production will begin soon – possibly later this month – and the full price list should be posted in a matter of days or weeks.
