BMW hiring another 6,000 employees over booming EV sales

BMW AG will be hiring 6,000 more staff in Germany this year because of the anticipated EV sales boom, Muenchner Merkur reports referencing BMW CEO Oliver Zipse.

The news seems to contradict reports about mass vehicle electrification causing staff reductions around the globe. Zipse says he is positive the company stays on the right course towards complete electrification.

Apparently, both the BMW i4 and the iX are so popular that pre-order queues span months. This year is shaping up to be more or less the same with regard to production backlog, as the all-electric i7 sedan is getting ready to premiere.

In addition to it, the company is getting an electric 3-Series ready to roll based on the Long variant of the chassis. Its premiere is set to take place this spring.
