Mystery man Dee hijacks all BMW social media in a PR stunt yet to be explained

BMW has apparently found another way to attract public attention to its social pages: according to Motor1, most visitors actually believed the company was hacked by a man named Dee, who kept posting mysterious texts, pics and videos.

It is  already clear that no hacking was involved – BMW has been going wild with its PR machinations lately, and this is nothing if not its latest stunt. Still, who can this ‘Dee’ actually be? Could it be the company’s new voice assistant? In some videos, he asks questions like, ‘How do I drive this thing?’

Another theory is that Dee is a subscription service for EV owners. Many vids tend to focus on all-electric BMW iX and i7 models, so that might be it.

At the same time, BMW launched a page on its official website dedicated to Dee. The caption invites everyone to subscribe to the news feed and explains nothing. A closer look reveals that the web page address contains ‘nextgen2023’, a possible reference to something new and exciting scheduled for the new year.

Last but not least, the whole hype storm could be just a way to advertise a new technology that BMW plans to bring to the CES show in Las Vegas in January. Whatever it is, we will keep you posted with any new bits of information we learn!
